Double page spread Analysis

Analysis 1:

The things that really interest me about this article are the layout as there is a large image of Rita ora, who the article is all about, on the left page, overlapping on to the right. Because of this feature, you don't even have to read the article to know who it is about. This image also really captures my attention because she is wearing bright red, which really stands out as all the other colors on the page are quite plain (black, grey, white etc). I also really like how the text and content is laid out as they are all really neatly presented in long columns down the page, which looks very tidy and put together. At the same time though, the columns dont make the pages look too boring because even though they are laid out very simply, the text is in black and the questions are in the same bright red as what Rita Ora is wearing. I really like how they made the text and image match because it just looks very clean but fun at the same time.
The story appeals to the target audience as the article is an interview with Rita Ora, who is a popular pop and RnB singer for teenagers. When teens are fans of a certain singer or artist, they always want to know more about them and about their opinions and views and that is what this article is explaining and giving information on. It also appeals to the target audience because teens usually like bright and fun articles with large images and bold text. This article includes all those features, which is also what made it so appealing to me, being a teenage girl myself. As teenagers don't always want to read a huge amount of text and really long articles, having these features also makes it look a lot less daunting and makes it more likely that they will read all the way through.
I would take the idea of having the same kind of layout, which is very simple but uses interesting images and font to make it more eye-catching and fun to look at, so that the readers attention is captured. I think I would also apply an interview with a music artist or facts about a popular music artist to make the content interesting and appeal to the target audience.

Analysis 2:

This is a double page spread of an article about Alexandra Burke. What interests me is how on one side of the page has a large A4 image of Alexandra Burk and the other page is mostly text with a smaller image of her again. Another thing that interests me is that there isn't a proper title on this page, even though the page before had a title. I think this is the only fall of this double page, as even though there is a title, you cant see one on the main interview and double page of the article. I do like how the background is just white and simple because it allows the images and text to really stand out and 'jump' out of the page. This especially makes the image of Alexandra on the right stand out and look very bold. It also almost gives her an outline as she has dark skin, which stands out against vary light and bright colours. What also interests me is how there is a quote from her in the middle of the left page in a bright pink colour. This interests me because it is a bit unusual to have a long quite like this right in the middle of a page. It is almost a surprise to the reader as they turn the page and see this.
The story appeals to the target audience because the people who read this type of magazine are interests in celebrities and music artists and what they are up to. They like to feel a more personal relationship with celebrities they look up to, which is was interviews do as they are asking them questions everybody wants to know about and know the answer to. This type of interview and article informs the reader of what Alexandra Burk is up to and about her upcoming music, which the target audience is typically very interested in.
Something I would take from this double page spread is to use contrasting colours through the background with images and text because it can make certain features of the article pop out and come across more eye catching.

Analysis 3:

This is an article based on the band 'The Wanted' in the Top Of the Pops magazine. What interests me about the article is that there is a large image of the band right in the centre, overlapping the two pages. I like this because it makes the band stand out and makes the image the main focas and attention. The colours they are wearing (black, white and purple) also really help to make the image stand out because it is against a grey background. What also interests me is the fact that purple and pink have been used as the main colour house style of the two pages, though the article is talking about 'The Wanted' working out and being very fit. This type of article would usually be used to show the boys as being manly and masculine, but it is surrounded by very girly colours. I think this was done to attract the female audience as they are the majority of the boy-bands fans.
The story appeals to the target audience because 'The Wanted' are a very popular boy-band for teenage girls, which the target audience is mainly made up of. What also hints to me that it is aimed at girls is because of the pink and purple used because these are very feminine colours that girls are attracted to. This article appeals to teenage girls because they always want to know more about boy-bands like this and are interested in what they have to say in interviews. They also like to see pictures of 'The Wanted', so having a very large image right in the centre of the article is very enjoyable to look at and read about and popular with the audience.
What I think I will take from this article is the idea of having colours that appeal to the majority of the target audience. This will get their attention and allow the article to be a lot more eye-catching if the audience like the colours used. I will also consider having the main image in the centre of the article and context because it helps draw the audience in.
