The images I used were mostly pictures of Stacey, as she was playing my main musician and celebrity. However, I also have a picture of my I-Pad, which I photographed on the front and inside I have a photograph of an album cover, which I included on my double page spread. I used a range of different images of Ruby White (Stacey). She was wearing the same clothes in all of the shots, although they were shot in quite a few different locations, to make them more interesting and be able to write different stories about them, to add to my content about her. The locations I used were in the music block, in In some of the images she was holding a guitar, and in others they were just mid shots of her looking at and away from the camera. Also, some looked staged and others looked natural, almost like she doesn’t know the picture is being taken. I made sure to use different types of shots as well like mid shots, close ups and full body shots.
The costume that she was wearing was a superman t-shirt, black leggings and black and leopard print creepers, her hair was also down with a black bow headband in it. I think this was a good look because it had quite a cool, quirky style, which is different, but the type of style which is popular with the current celebrities and target audience I am trying to reach. Another thing, which I think was good about the outfit, was that it wasn’t too busy and colourful, so it didn’t clash with other colours and content on the same page. The only colours she was wearing were blue, yellow, red (the primary colours) and black. These colours are quite versatile and don’t clash with too many other colours, so It was quite easy to use against a lot of other different images, text and colours. Stacie is the only person I have used for photographs, although I have included the names of other celebrities and singers.
The font style varies a bit, but it is all pretty strait forward and is very easy to read. It is quite bold and rectangular because I think it suits the theme. The names of all the actual fonts are Myraid Pro, Berlin Stans FB Demi and Agency FB. . The colours I used for the fonts also vary, as I have used some brighter colours and some dark ones depending on the background and the colours that surround it. All the colours for the font I used were black, red, pink, light blue, orange and purple. I think these are appropriate because of the target audience being teenage girls who are interested in music. I think it is very fun and bubbly, with the colours, so i think the fonts I have used have turned that down a bit, just to make it not too over powering and girly.
The written content on the front cover includes the title and lots of information about what is inside. I think it is effective because it is quite informative, without giving away too much about what is actually inside. The contents page just includes information about what is on most of the pages in the magazine. It is similar to the front cover in the way that it tells people what is inside (except a lot more than the front cover) and the page numbers but doesn’t give much information away. The double page spread in an interview with the singer Stacey is playing called Ruby White. It includes the questions and answers from the interview, as well as a few extra facts and bits of information about the singer.
The music genre of the magazine is a mix of pop, rock, alternative rock, RnB etc. They are popular music styles that dominate the charts and the radio. These are the most popular and the most current genres that teenagers listen to, so that’s why I decided to use a mix of these genres in the magazine, so that I could appeal to the largest population of teenage girls possible that read music magazines. The character Ruby White helps suggest this because her style is very current and her look links to the music genre that I am trying to represent. I think the font style also helps suggest this music style as well because it looks quite retro and funky.
I think the layout of my magazine varies from the different pages. The front cover is very busy and colourful and gives off a lot of information. However the contents page it quite simple and only uses one image. The double page spread is quite busy as well because there is quite a lot of text. I used the magazine pages I reviewed for inspiration and took inspiration from what I liked. A lot of the contents pages that I saw and I liked were very simple, which is why I chose to make mine in the way. In the same way, a lot of the front covers I looked at were very busy and informative, which is why I chose to make mine in a similar way.
My contents page is very informative, without giving a lot of information away. I haven’t included what would be on every single page, but I have included the most exciting parts and the pages that I mentioned on the title page. I think this will help draw the audience in because it will let them know what articles and music is inside.
